Managing Retail Growth

As you sell, build, and support the addition of new locations, make sure you have store trade areas or exclusive territories mapped out for quick reference. Using a layer, you can easily draw out each store's market and share that internally with your team or externally with a store manager or franchise owner.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Keep in Mind

  • Territories can also be imported to PiinPoint from another application or external files. To integrate existing shapes into PiinPoint, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Add Store Trade Areas to PiinPoint

Under Layers, click + New Layer. Then, choose the option to Create New Empty Layer:

A new Layer will appear in your list. Name it something relevant, like the city or region that the trade areas will belong to. E.g. Waterloo Territories.

Then, using the Polygon tool (or radius or drive time), outline the specific trade areas of your concept.ย

On the context menu for each drawn shape, select the option to Add to Layer:

You'll then be able to select which layer to add the shape to. Add each point until all trade areas are saved to your new layer:

Categorize Trade Areas by Status

To symbolize each trade area based on its status, click on one of your newly saved shapes. A shape pop-up menu will appear, where you can add any of your own unique notes and details about the trade area.ย

To add a new row to capture something like the trade area's name or status, click + Add Row:

Input a Key (e.g. "Name") and then the value of that Key (e.g. Uptown). Then click Add:

Once you've added all the attributes you need, you can go to your Attribute Table to fill the rest in by bulk.

Select the Attribute Table icon to the left of your Layer's name to see the entire table:

Now you can easily manage the spreadsheet of territories within your map view. Assign a Status, Name, or any custom category that you input:

Organize Trade Areas by Symbology

Now that all your custom attributes are captured, you can symbolize the layer for presentations, maps, or sharing.

Navigate to the Symbology Menu by clicking on the Symbology pin to the left of your Layer name:

Choose to symbolize the Trade Areas by who added them, what their Status is, their Name, or any other custom attributes you recorded:

Then customize the coloring to best indicate the availability of the site:

Click Done and see your trade areas easily indicating availability:
