When <a href="https://help.piinpoint.com/building-custom-layers/uploading-a-layer" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">uploading a Layer</a>, the file format will matter depending on what <a href="https://help.piinpoint.com/building-custom-layers/types-of-layers" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">type of layer</a> you are trying to import. 

Regular and Candidate layers can be either CSV or Excel files.&nbsp;

Contribution Layers can be either CSV, SHP, or GeoJSON files.&nbsp;

Any spatial files can be in either SHP or GeoJSON format.
