Batch report sets can be generated off of any csv/excel file that you've uploaded to PiinPoint as a Layer. And if you have access to our My Locations feature, you can also generate batch reports for your uploaded My Locations set.

Whether it's a set of local competitor locations that you've been exploring, or you curated your own layer of Candidate locations, batch reports will help you shorten the research process or consolidated information on multiple sites all at once.

Create a Batch Report(s) from a Layer

First, make sure you have data uploaded to Layers, as points on the map.ย

These locations, or the points in that Layer, will represent the location that each report is based off of, depending on the trade area that you set. ย For example, the map below has a list of all of the Go Train stations in the Greater Toronto Area loaded:

Once the data is uploaded, it's a quick step to generate the batch report. If the batch report is based on a Layer, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your Layers panel.

  2. Find the Layer in your list.

  3. Click on the ellipses to the right of your Layer name.

  4. Select the option to Create Report(s).

You'll then be automatically be navigated to PiinPoint's Batch Report Menu.

Create a Batch Report(s) from the Batch Reports menu

  1. Select the Reports tab in the navigation bar at the top of your Explore map.

  2. Select the Batch Reports tab.

  3. Select + Create Batch Report Set.

Now that you've started a Batch Report, it's time to customize your settings.

Building your Batch Report

1. Select a Dataset

You'll be redirected to the Batch Report settings where you first choose the dataset to report on. Pick your Current Locations or Layers, e.g. Go Train Stations.ย

There are two types of batch reports:

  • Regular: This will create a set of single site reports; one for every point in the Layer

  • Comparison: This will create a single report comparing all the points in the Layer (to learn more on these, see here)

Set the name of your Batch Report. This decides the name of the collection of reports. This is the name that will appear on the Batch Reports page.

Click Next.

2. Identify Mappings

The Identify Mappings page shows a sample row of all the attributes in the dataset so that you can select which column attributes you would like to determine the name of each individual report and any comments you would like to see included at the top of your report.

In the example below, we've selected the Station Name (STA_NAM) for each of the Go Train Stations to be the name of the report. The dataset has a field called comments, so naturally that was chosen for the comments field, though you can choose any attribute to be included as a comment below the Report Name.ย

Once you have set the name and comment fields, click Next.

๐Ÿ’ก PRO TIP: Before creating your report, ensure that your dataset has an appropriate field to use as the name of each report. For more details on adding attributes to a dataset, click here.ย

3. Set Reporting Method

Choose what size and type of trade area to build around each location. You can also include comparison rings using the Radii Rings field.ย

You also have the option to include any of your point layers in your report, as well as any POIs you selected in the POI feature panel. If you have a lot of layers, you will need to scroll down on the page to navigate to the list of POIs you can activate for the reports.ย

Once you have your trade area set, and the desired layers and POIs selected, click the green Start button to run the report. You will be redirected to the Batch Reports page, where you can open the data set by clicking Open Report Set to the right of the Batch Name.ย

Depending on the number of points in your dataset, it may take a few minutes to load the full set of reports.ย

All Batch Reports can be found within your Report library, accessed at any time by clicking the Reports tab at the top of the page.ย
